About Me

I grew up at public school in Northbrook, IL, busy with many activities including Jewish youth group and Jewish summer camp. My family was not very observant (of halachic laws) but we were deeply involved at our Reconstructionist synagogue. I studied journalism and art at a small liberal arts school in rural Ohio (The College of Wooster), and served as president of our Jewish club for three years. Meanwhile, I spent many summers abroad, often writing about my Jewish experiences (from Denmark to Uganda).
After graduation I had a variety of journalism jobs, including writing for Timeout Israel while living in Tel Aviv.
Then I began working in Jewish youth education, starting as a 5th grade religious school teacher and for a
Birthright Israel trip organizer. For the last 3 years, I was San Diego State University Hillel’s program director,
guiding hundreds of students on their Jewish journeys through my projects and personal mentorship. It has
become my passion to help people discover Judaism, build communities, and connect to each other.
My other passions include dancing, fire flow arts, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and jewelry making.
